Ecological economics, monetary theory, sustainable welfare, eco-social policies
Nick is a researcher with expertise in ecological economics. His previous work focused on sustainable welfare and eco-social policies for transitioning to more sustainable and just societies. Specifically, he studied the role of unconditional basic income (UBI) in a degrowth transition and led the evaluation of the first pilot of a conservation basic income in the Peruvian Amazon.
Outside of academia, Nick has professional experience as a social development adviser at the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), as well as in monitoring and evaluation and community development roles, including field experience in India and Central America.
At Opportunity Green, Nick works on the economics and financing of global climate action. He works closely with our legal, advocacy and diplomacy teams to hold governments and polluters accountable across sectors including shipping, aviation, trucks, steel and agriculture.
